Humps & Bumps is a fun track cycling exercise to perform, the main target of the exercise it to work on riders change of pace and track skills.

Exercise teaches discipline bike handling track craft, there are a few variations of this exercise depends on what the track cycling coach wants out of the exercise.

Follow the leader is a fun way for the track cyclist to ride while inducing effort intervals, performed by group of riders following in single file formation, the lead rider will swing up and down the velodrome banking with intent to make it difficult for the following riders to follow, this will simulate lead rider to provoking an other to take the lead when a riders does not want to lead out at the finish, role reverse for the following rider/riders when they try to make the lead rider lead out at the finish., the track cycling coach sounds a whistle to change rider from the front of the group .

Humps & Bumps is a toned down version of follow the leader, the track cycling coach will brief riders which corner they will swing up & down the velodrome banking, riders may change off the front of the group every lap or on at track coaches discretion .

Using the velodrome banking to the extreme builds rider confidence, each rider will feel where and how to use the velodrome banking to their advantage for accelerating and decelerating without putting to much pressure on the athletes legs.
